Translation- Vrundavani VeNu vaje |

vrndaavani veNu vaje
veNu kawaNaachaa maay vaaje ho..
The flute (veNu) makes sound (is being played) in the Vrundavana, the venu is like a poem
~
veNunaade gowardhana gaaje..
puccha pasaruni mayura viraje
maja paahaata bhaasati yaadava raaje...
this sound of veNu (venunade) fillls the whole Govardhana mountain. spreading it's tail, the peacock is dancing , it seems to me as Yadava Raje (Krishna) is looking at me
~
truNa chara charu visaralee
gaayi vyaaghra eka Thaayi zaale (tsaalee)
pakShee kuLe niwanta raahilee
vaira bhaava samuLa visaralee...
forgetting to graze, the cow and tiger come together, birds are relaxed, the feeling of enmity is completely vanished,
~
yamunajaLa sthirasthira vaahe. ravimandaLa chaalata stabdh hoye , shesha kurma varaha chakit raahe, baaLa stana deu visarali maaYe
the water of Yamuna is flowing slowly (almost stopped), the ravimanDala (the planets and stars with sun have stopped too, shesha, kurma varaha are mesmerized, the mother forgot to feed her child...

dhwani manjuLa manjuLa umaTatee
waakee ruNuzuNu ruNuzuNu waazatee
deva vimanee baisonee stuti gaatee
bhaanudaasaa paawalee prem bhakti...
the sound produced is nothing but sweet, the anklets make sound ruNuzuNu, the gods sitting in vmana are singing praise, Bhanudasa is blessed with love and devotion (premabhakti)

Translation - Roopa paahata lochani

The Abhanga I am going to post today is very simple, yet very meaningful! Probably this is the beauty of Santa Sahitya of Marathi that the compositions are very simple and very easy to get but they give us the meaning which we can keep on finding all the way through our actions and thoughts!

This Abhanga penned by Dnyaneshwara is sung by many artists including Bhimsen Joshi, it was used in a movie Shree Santa Nivrutti Dnyanadeva, sung by Asha Bhosale.
All these versions are set in different tunes and each one of them sweet in their own manner!
But personally most I love is sung by Carnatic singer duo Ranjani Gayatri. (posting the links at the bottom of the post)

(roopa paahata lochani। sukha zaale ho saajaNi।)
Seeing the beauty (beautiful form) by my eyes, I got the bliss… o friend
(to haa viTThala barawaato haa maadhava barawa।)
That one Vitthala is beautiful, that one Madhava is beautiful
(bahutaa sukrutachi joDi।mhaNuni viTThali aawaDee।)
Multiplying the good deeds, (then only) thus starts the love for Vitthala
(sava sukhace aagaru। baapa rakhumadevivaru।)
Home of all the bliss, (is) father  Rakhuma Devi’s (Rukmini’s) husband [referring to Vitthala]

Film version by Asha Bhosale composed by legendary composer C. Ramachandra - here
Pt. Bhimsen Joshi's version - here
My favourite - Ranjani-Gayatri's version - here
